Jim Banks is a true legend of the surfing world. Although one of the world’s top surfers through the late 70’s and early 80s, especially in serious surf. Jim Banks never fully embraced professional surfing and by the mid 80’s had abandoned competition in favour of exploration; mainly Indo, where he discovered many now well-trodden waves. Jim has also thoroughly explored the possibilities of surfboard shaping throughout the course of his life. As a youngster he stripped down his Dad’s badly delaminated board and attempted to shape it into something more usable (with limited success!). He went on to become one of the youngest recognised shapers of his time and in the mid 80’s shaped some of the boards on which a young Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilupo burst onto the scene. Fast forward 30 years and Jim’s wealth of knowledge underpins a flawlessly produced, eclectically inspired range of beautiful, yet highly functional surfboards. For Jim Banks and his team riders we’re all-time ready, beyond excited and motivated to sit on the cliff and capture the action on film and photo. Who needs Netflix when Jim is out there surfing his quiver and showing his skills.
Jim Banks: “We’ve been really happy with the content that has been produced for us. The work is top notch and it is a real pleasure to be working with Bunny + Dust Productions. ”
